Shielded deposits
Zecnero supports transparent, Sapling and Orchard pools. Services can accept deposits to any of them.
Transparent deposits
The simplest option. Deposits and balances are visible on the chain and can be tracked with standard UTXO tooling.
Sapling deposits
Give each user a Sapling address (ns...). Your wallet decrypts incoming notes with its viewing key. Amounts and senders are not visible to outside observers.
- Use a different diversified address per user to tell deposits apart.
- Apply the same confirmation count as transparent deposits.
Orchard deposits
Orchard is active on the network from height 1, with the NU6.2 Orchard circuit fix applied. Orchard receivers are reached through unified addresses (nu...).
Orchard support in the reference wallet is in progress. Confirm the recommended tooling for Orchard deposits before advising services to use it.
Turnstile
Zecnero enforces the ZIP 209 turnstile rule. The total value in each shielded pool can never go below zero, so a counterfeiting bug in a shielded circuit can’t inflate the transparent supply unnoticed.
Moving funds between pools
Shielding (transparent to shielded) and deshielding (shielded to transparent) transactions are visible as pool transfers on the chain, though shielded-side details stay private.
