Address types
Zecnero has the same address types as Zcash, with Zecnero prefixes.
| Type | Starts with | Privacy | Wallet 0.2.1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transparent | N | Public, like Bitcoin | Supported |
| Sapling | ns (Bech32) | Shielded | Supported |
| Unified | nu | Bundles one or more receivers, including Orchard | See TODO below |
Sprout addresses don’t exist on Zecnero. Sprout is disabled.
The prefixes above are the confirmed Mainnet prefixes. Confirm the testnet prefixes and add them to this table. Also confirm whether wallet 0.2.1 can create or send to unified addresses.
Transparent addresses
Sender, receiver and amount are visible on the chain, the same as Bitcoin. Use them where a service needs them. Mining payouts can go to a transparent address.
Sapling addresses
Sapling addresses are shielded. The chain records that a transaction happened, but sender, receiver and amount are encrypted. Mining pool payouts can go to a Sapling address.
Unified addresses
A unified address packs several receivers into one string. A sender’s wallet picks the best receiver it supports. Orchard receivers are reached through unified addresses.
Which one to use
- For mining payouts: either works. Sapling keeps payouts private.
- For holding coins: Sapling.
- For services that only accept transparent: transparent, then shield the funds once received.
